Our Story
Why Best Senior Homes Exists in Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, VA, and the Surrounding Area
Best Senior Homes was founded after Brian Weinstein recognized a significant gap in the senior care continuum while operating Visiting Angels Virginia Beach and Princess Anne.
During his years in home care, Brian worked closely with hundreds of families navigating difficult decisions about where their loved ones should live when care needs increased. While traditional assisted living communities provide excellent options for active seniors or those who require lower levels of assistance, Brian saw that many families struggled to find appropriate placement for seniors who needed more individualized attention or had complex care needs but were not necessarily candidates for a skilled nursing facility.
At the same time, there were many private residential care homes available, but most were converted single-family houses that were never designed to support seniors with higher care needs. These homes often lacked private bathrooms, accessible layouts, and the structural design needed to support both residents and caregivers properly.
Brian also saw firsthand the financial strain families faced trying to maintain 24/7 home care, which can quickly become unsustainable.
Recognizing this need, Brian brought together a group of like-minded professionals who shared a vision: to build purpose-built residential care homes specifically designed for seniors who require more personalized care while maintaining the comfort of a home-like setting.
Rather than adapting traditional homes, Best Senior Homes focuses on building residences from the ground up to support both residents and caregivers. These homes provide thoughtful layouts, private spaces, and environments that allow caregivers to deliver attentive, high-quality care.
